Pack your bags and head to… the library? Yep! The African-American Research Library and Cultural Center presents Destination Friday, an event held the first Friday of select months. This April, get ready to explore the spirit of Trinidad & Tobago!
Listen the sounds of soca music spun by the DJ. Enjoy steel drum sessions and lessons, and a body-bending limbo contest with a grand prize to the winner. Experience the island’s foods including its signature roti dish, along with pumpkin sautéed with garlic and onion, chick peas, curry chicken, then wash it down with a glass of Trinidad rum punch. A collection of art from Trinidad will be on view in the gallery. Come dressed to party!
The event takes place from from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $10. Ages 21+
