Basel came and Basel went, thankfully my liver is still game.  So, this past Saturday I had it all planned… to head down to Miami for Art Basel (Dec. 3-8).  My heart was set on Scope Miami, an international Contemporary Art Show, taking place on Ocean Drive.

The plan of attack was as follows:

  1. Cheeses of France pop-up in Midtown/Wynwood area
  2. Head to Scope, possibly by taking the midtown trolley then transfer to the Basel trolley.
  3. Grab a bite at one of four possible restaurants (Tap Tap, Blue Collar, Gigi‘s or Joe’s Stone Crab)
  4. Finish the night at Vizcaya with a live performance from 8-11.

Long story short, parking was ridiculous at Midtown, so my sister & I ended up just going to Scope.  Have to admit, really enjoyed the art.  I regret not having taken down any of the artist’s names.  Art aside, the booze overflowed… from bars at various corners of the fair to just individuals walking about offering shots.

If you’re looking to head to Basel or any of the satellite fairs next year, I would say it’s best to avoid getting around by car.
